Oooops.... Seem to have forgotten about this blog thing.

Well it's Wednesday June 19th, 2013 and a lot of changes have come along. We managed to sort out our warehouse situation and the new owners were able to take over the space without having to share it with a non-compatible business. Metal fabrication and food just don't fit in the same square box. The downside being we had to leave all our wonderful friends who work on the production floor at Triangle Inc. We stay in touch and hopefully soon will be back to working more closely with them. If anyone's in need of packaging items I highly recommend you contact Peter DeMico at Triangle Inc. and get a tour of what they do. Their website is www.triangle-inc.org. Say Jambo from us! The Bruins are playing tonight so i'm heading up to The Abbey in Brookline. This place is going gang busters! With Damian behind bar and Josh behind the stove these two gents have created a new hot spot in Washington Square. A great crew helps them do it right and when the weather is fine there are some great tables on the sidewalk outside. The Guinness is always just the right temperature and the customers are a right friendly bunch. Stop on by and say Jambo! So until I get a chance to post a few more updates all I'll say for now is: Go Bruins!

New News on Newbury Street - Stephanie's

Executive Chef Jamie has moved out of the city. He has taken on the Executive Chef position at Sky in Norwood. We wish him all the best. In the meantime Jamie's right hand man Cory has now taken over the reins and is the Executive Chef with Sous Chef Larry taking up the slack. The key ingredient to this restaurant's success is having the team work in such a busy kitchen and bar. We stopped by for dinner and drinks at the bar and had a chance to meet Stephanie's Bar Manager Brian Simpson. This guy knows his wines folks. We asked him to select for us and he poured a great Cab from a house named "Carr". It was delicious. In fact I stopped off the next day at a local wine shop to see if they had it and they were sold out. Others must have met Brian as well! Stop on by and say Jambo!

Beacon Street Tavern

There's a new place in the neighborhood. The guys from Washington Square Tavern have opened a new restaurant a little closer to Boston at 1032 Beacon Street. The first thing you'll notice is that it's almost identical except for the food and oh yeah....the huge patio out front! Sightseeing doesn't get much better than this in Brookline. Chefs Sammy and Sean are joined in the Kitchen by Jamie as they get things going and judging by the first couple of weeks in business things are going well. Jerry is busy working the front so the energy level is high.

Although things might feel similar to WST there are definitely some distinct differences. The menu for one. It looks like Sean's famous ribs might have found a home and I highly recommend them. Now Sean and Sammy won't have to call me just to let me know that they're cooking the ribs on special!

Meanwhile Chef Josh has been taking care of things up at Washington Square so there are now two great supporters of JamboChef's Mission in the neighborhood. Make sure you stop by and say "Jambo".

Truly Jorg's Patisserie

Chef Jorg Amsler is as big as the Matterhorn in both personality and talent. As much as this Swiss native would like to be known for his cakes, pastries and chocolate, he's just as comfortable with savory foods. Whether it's a wedding cake or the whole event, Jorg gets it done. A strong believer in supporting the community Jorg and his team of pastry chefs often participate in many local pastry and national competitions and fundraising events. Not only can he carve a mean watermelon but he's pretty adept on the guitar as well. Stop in and say Jambo!

Stephanie's on Newbury

Executive Chef Jamie Mohn and his Sous Chef Corey carry a huge workload running one of Boston's busiest restaurants.
Yet they always seem to have time to pay attention to the little guys. Which we greatly appreciate. You cannot find a better place to hang out on a warm sunny day than outside on the terrace at Stephanie's. It's always worth the wait as these guys put out some great food. It's always good to know you can get a generous portion of your favorite comfort food year round.
If you haven't been in a while, check out the new bar. It's big and easy going. They maybe swamped but say Jambo to the kitchen!

Washington Square Tavern

The quintessential neighborhood pub and restaurant. I only wished I lived next door. This lively place is open for dinner and serves up a casual yet elegant fare. The meals created by Exec Chef Sam Kahan and his Sous Chef Sean are constantly changing and are always interesting and full of flavor. (Trade secret: These guys use our top of the line Balsamic Vinegar from Modena which is worth the trip alone.)
Plenty of friendly seats at the bar so stop on by and say Jambo to the guys in the kitchen.

Vinalia

Executive Chef Clifton Clark III offers up a variety of universal favorites to accompany the extensive wine-list they are known for.
Located near Downtown Crossing, this is a great place to meet for drinks as much as it is for the great food.
Say Jambo to Chef Cliff and Sous Chef Edgar and let them know you appreciate their support of JamboChef and our causes. And why not head over to Felt afterwards for a little pool or dancing.
